Biography

Ivan Samardžić was born on February 18, 1985 in Belgrade, where he graduated from the Eighth Belgrade Gymnasium. He completed bachelor (2009) and master studies (2010) in the field of Geospatial and Environmental Science at the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade, under the mentorship of professor Dejan Filipović, Ph.D. He acquired the title of Bachelor of Geography for Environmental Protection with the thesis “Conflicts and protection of the Nature Park and the tourist region of Stara Planina Mountain” and the title of Master for Environmental Protection with the thesis “Environmental Impact Assessment of the ski resorts in the tourist center Babin zub”.

He has acquired his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade, which earned him the title of Ph.D. of Geosciences (narrow scientific field of Geospatial and Environmental Science within Ph.D. study program Geosciences) with the thesis “Community-hygiene problems of public surfaces and environmental protection measures at the territory of the Belgrade settlement”, under mentorship professor Dejan Filipović, Ph.D.

He is currently Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade and Researcher on the project “Development Programs for the Revitalization of Villages in Serbia”, under the Ministry of Science, Education and Technological Development. He teaches subjects from the narrow scientific field (lectures, practical and fieldwork) and participates in the implementation of activities in the teaching-scientific base of the Faculty of Geography in Blaževo, Serbia. He has participated in the accreditation and re-accreditation procedures of the Faculty of Geography. He is also a member of the editorial board of the magazine “Ekogea”. He has published 39 authored and co-authored scientific research papers and participated in multiple scientific-professional conferences. He has also participated 130 times as the second member of the commission during the defense of final theses of undergraduate students, as well as at several environmental camps, festivals and events, where he has held 14 lectures.
