Biography
Phd Bojan Vračarević is an Associate Professor at the Department of Spatial Planning (Economic Courses Group) at the Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade, where he has been teaching since 2010.
He earned his undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade. In 2019, he defended his doctoral dissertation titled “Sustainable Urban Development and Determinants of Urban Transport Energy Consumption: A Theoretical and Empirical Analysis.”
His research centers on Urban and Environmental Economics, with a particular focus on sustainable urban development, the relationship between urban form and transport strategies, urban mobility, and environmental evaluation. He has authored numerous research papers published in both domestic and international journals, with several also presented at academic conferences. Additionally, he has authored one scientific monograph, Sustainable Urban Development and Determinants of Urban Transport Energy Consumption, and a university textbook, Tourism and International Economic Trends.
Beyond academia, he has contributed to several international, national, and local spatial plans, strategies, and studies. He has participated in two scientific research projects, including the multilateral Horizon Europe project GreenFORCE – Foster Research Excellence for Green Transition in the Western Balkans. As part of this project, he conducted research and data analysis and was one of lead authors of the Research Study Report: From Conventional to Green – Key Elements for the Development of the City of Kragujevac Sustainable Mobility Strategy.
He is a member of the Economists Association of Belgrade and the Serbian Spatial Planners Association. He is fluent in English.
