Biography

Milena (Stanojević) Toković gained a bachelor’s degree in sociology, at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade (2009), where she also received a master’s (2013) and doctoral degree (2020). She earned another master’s degree at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, Department of Management and Organization: marketing management and public relations. She worked as a Research Associate at the Institute for Sociological Research – Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, engaged in the research project Challenges of New Social Integration in Serbia: Concepts and Actors, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of Serbia (2012-2022). Further, she pursued advanced training at several summer schools and seminars (Summer schools: Democracy and Debate, SNSF; Exploring Belgrade: theory x discipline x method, LMU Munich/ University of Regensburg; Academy of Modern Management, Estiem, University of Belgrade, Faculty of Organizational Sciences). She participated in several national and international research projects: Political leaders in European cities (Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities, 2014-2015), Research and Innovative Strategies in the Field of Social Sciences and Humanities (The World Bank, 2015), Euro student (University of Belgrade, 2017), European Social Survey (European Infrastructural Consortium, Institute of Sociological Research, University of Belgrade, Institute of Social Sciences, Belgrade, financially supported by Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia; 2018, 2020, 2021, 2020), Humans and Society in Times of Crisis: Challenges in the sphere of work, family, lifestyle in the context of the covid 19 pandemic in Serbia: new solidarity and new inequalities) (University of Belgrade, Faculty of Philosophy, 2021-2022), E mindful project (Enhancing European Migration Narrative to Develop Further Union’s Long-Term Actions) (2022-) (OSCE, ILO, EUI/OPAM).

Research interests: urban sociology – city branding, city identity, territorial capital, cultural policy, festivalisation of urban spaces

Membership in foreign and domestic associations

Мilena Toković  is a member of the Serbian Sociological Association and the Sociological Scientific Society of Serbia.
