Biography

Ivan Ratkaj earned a B.Sc. in Geography from the Faculty of Geography in Belgrade in 1998.

He received a magister degree (2004) and a Ph.D. (2008) in Human Geography from the Faculty of Geography in Belgrade.

Dr. Ratkaj has been a member of the Department of Human Geography at the Faculty of Geography in Belgrade since 1999: teaching assistant (1999-2008), assistant professor (2008-2014), associate professor (2014-2018), full professor (2018-).

His research interests include social, economic and urban geography.

He participated in 10 research projects of national and international importance.

Dr. Ratkaj has authored 2 books, 7 book chapters, more than 30 peer reviewed papers, and numerous conference presentations.

Head of Department for Human geography (2012-2018; 2021-).

Membership in foreign and domestic associations

Vice-president of the Serbian Geographical Society (2016-2021).

President of the Serbian Geographical Society (2021-).
