We cordially invite you to participate in the International Scientific Conference GREEN AGENDA FOR WESTERN BALKANS, which will take place from 20 to 22 June 2023 in Belgrade.
We are excited to bring together researchers and scholars from Europe and beyond, but also technology leaders, companies, institutions, policy makers and other stakeholders related to the Green Transition sector to discuss important topics leading to a successful implementation of the Green Agenda in the Western Balkan countries.
The GREEN AGENDA FOR WESTERN BALKANS International Conference is a comprehensive three-day event filled with inspiring keynotes, panel discussions and high-level networking. This is your chance to experience the unique collaborative culture in Belgrade and to meet entrepreneurs, investors, corporations, developers and frontrunners within green transition.
Our goal is to create a platform that enables exchange and dissemination of scientific knowledge on spatial planning and linked sciences between and amongst researchers, scholars and other stakeholders.
Our key areas of focus are themes connected to the European Commission guidelines for implementing the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, which envisages actions around five pillars, covered also by the European Green Deal: (I) climate action, including decarbonization, energy and mobility (II) circular economy, addressing in particular waste, recycling, sustainable production and efficient use of resources (III) biodiversity, aiming to protect and restore the natural wealth of the region (IV) fighting air, water, and soil pollution and (V) sustainable food systems and rural areas
Beside above mentioned five key areas, our focus will be especially spatial planning, as a one of the key implementation instruments, digitalization as a key enabler for these pillars in line with the concept of the dual green and digital transition and inputs and new perspective from our young researchers.
Our speakers and panellists from different backgrounds and sectors will share their insights on the latest developments in these areas and provide valuable perspectives on the road ahead.
The transition task ahead of us is giant and forthcoming years will be a period for major decisions. Our ambition is to spur dialogue to facilitate fact-base dialogue.

Conference fees covers admittance to all sessions of the Conference, a copy of Proceedings (containing the author’s paper), Lunches, Refreshments and Social Events.

Submission of Abstract: The abstract should be written in English (no more than 300 words, Times New Roman, 11pt), up to 5 keywords, home institution and affiliated department(s), and co-authors.
Abstracts must be submitted online to the submission email conference@gef.bg.ac.rs
Abstracts will be peer-reviewed and selected for presentation by the Scientific Committee. The letter of notification will be sent by 25th April 2023. After abstract evaluation, committees will have the chance to transfer papers between sessions where applicable.
Conference Proceedings
All the selected abstracts will be presented in a Book of Abstracts with the adequate ISBN number. Also, there is a possibility for the selected papers to be published in a special issue of an international publisher we are at the moment negotiating with. Book of abstracts will be distributed to participants at the conference.
