Циљ предмета

Introduce students to the global environmental problems on planet Earth. Classification of global environmental hazards, divided into hazards caused by extreme weather (winter storms, windstorms, tornadoes, hail, desert winds, droughts, forest and wildfires, heat waves, cold waves, air quality). Challenges of geospatial research in terms of climate change, world population growth, lack of water, lack of arable land, deforestation, accumulation of waste, lack of energy, etc. Geospatial analysis and sustainability mechanisms of the energy balance, renewable and non-renewable energy sources in the world. Application of modern GIS methodology, geostatistical approach to better understand national, regional and global sustainable development. Analyzing space using numerical methods and approaches, determining the actual state of the environment and its sustainability. Analyzing the state of the world and the greatest challenges facing humanity in the 21st century, perspectives for the sustainability of planet Earth in the 21st century. Better global analysis and sharing of environmental problems. Creation of a digital world cadaster of humanity’s greatest environmental challenges.

Исход предмета

Upon completion of this course, students will have advanced and applied knowledge in the areas of general and applied ecology, environment and sustainable development. Through the acquisition of knowledge, students will gain a better insight into global environmental problems and thus be able to form a better picture of the preservation of planet Earth. Through the application of modern statistical, spatial, numerical and GIS methods, a better insight is gained into the most sensitive environmental conservation issues. In this course, global environmental problems are divided into those caused by climate change and others caused by various hazards. The focus of this course is on humans (shell society) living in a particular epoch, the Anthropocene. In this course, global environmental challenges are categorized into local, national, regional and global. Upon completion of this course, students will gain a better understanding (insight) into the interrelationships of all spheres and biomes on the planet. A special place is given to the assessment of the ecological future, the sustainable development of all countries in the world, divided into economic and political groups. Resources, which are divided into non-renewable and renewable, influence the ecological balance, which is more than threatened today. This topic shows which parts of the ecological balance are threatened and how it is possible to rehabilitate and preserve all biomes without disturbing the ecological balance.
