Циљ предмета

The aim of the subject is to develop intercultural competencies that promote social cohesion in society, participate in intercultural dialogue and produce economic effects that benefit the environment…). Interculturality and sustainable development require a global, collaborative and innovative approach to solving the complex and interconnected challenges we face. Intercultural competences help to understand and respect the different values in the world and promote empathy and cooperation between the different stakeholders, without which it is not possible to ensure sustainability, legal and more harmonious society, where human well-being and environmental protection are balanced and prioritised.

Key competences acquired by students: communicate effectively, sympathetically and respectfully with people of different cultures, backgrounds and perspectives; understand and apply the principles and practices of sustainability in different contexts; analyze, evaluate and synthesize information from different sources and perspectives; express themselves clearly and persuasively orally and in writing, using appropriate language and media; participate actively and responsibly in local and global communities and respect and promote human rights and democratic values;

Theory

·        Globalization;

  • Cultural influences on intercultural communication and social interaction;
  • Cultural differences in expectations (of employees…);
  • Cultural influences on ethical behavior;
  • Cultural diversity (examples): Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, key European values, India, Latin America, Middle East, North America;
  • Intercultural and multicultural;
  • Multiculturalism in a global world – the need for impact on education;
  • Interculturality and sustainable development – recognition and respect for diversity; critical and dialogical approach – question of dominant paradigm and power structure;
  • Interculturality and sustainable development – opportunities and context for intercultural exchange and cooperation;
  • Interculturality and sustainable development – application to different levels and areas of action: individual, social, institutional, national and global; and to different areas: Education, health, business and politics;
  • Analyzing the complexity and diversity of cultural interactions and their impact on sustainable development

 

Practical learning

 

The practical lessons are methodically and thematically linked to the lectures. In the exercises, students will analyze numerous case studies that follow on from the theoretical teaching. Students are required to write a seminar paper
