6th International Conference on Urban Planning ICUP 2027_First Call

Dear Colleagues,

With great pleasure, we would like to inform you to save the date for the 6th International Conference on Urban Planning ICUP 2027, which will take place in April 2027 in Niš, Serbia. 

The main topic of the upcoming conference is HOUSING SYSTEMS, AFFORDABILITY AND SPATIAL JUSTICE.  The main theme of ICUP 2027, „Housing Systems, Affordability and Spatial Justice,“ focuses on the role of urban planning in shaping housing provision and its spatial and social outcomes. Particular attention is given to the relationship between planning frameworks and built realities, as well as to the ways in which housing conditions relate to urban inequality and everyday life.

Main subtopics for the ICUP 2027 Conference, defined in the first phase, include, but are not limited to:

1. Housing Systems and Planning Frameworks

2. Affordability and Housing Provision

3. Housing and Spatial Inequality

4. Housing and Living Conditions

5. Housing in Diverse Urban Contexts

 

We would like to invite you to take part in the ICUP 2027 International Conference, and we kindly ask you to spread the word about it. The website of the previous Conferences is http://upcluster.org/icup/.

 

The deadline for abstract submission will be in October 2026, and for the final papers, January 2027. Next month we will provide you with new information regarding the technical details for the submission platform and Committees for the Conference.

 

The conference is organized by the Urban Planning Cluster as the main organizer, and the Faculty of Economics of the University of Niš, the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Belgrade, and the Faculty of Geography of the University of Belgrade as co-organizers. The official language of the Conference is English. All submitted papers will be double-blind peer-reviewed.

 

For the sixth edition of the ICUP Conference, we proudly invite distinguished scientists, researchers, and professionals to come together and share their research and insights. The conference encourages contributions that engage with planning practice, policy frameworks and spatial outcomes, fostering dialogue across disciplinary and professional boundaries.
