
Geospatial research for sustainable development – Master Program – NEW INFORMATION
The aim of the program is to train students who, through the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies, will be capable of working in the planning, analysis, and management of the natural and social environment to promote sustainable development. The program prepares a new generation of professionals equipped to address current sustainable development challenges by applying their acquired expertise.
Students will gain theoretical, practical, and applied knowledge, enabling them to contribute innovative, long-term solutions for achieving sustainable development and planning goals in geographic, environmental, demographic, social, economic, and urban contexts.
This two-year program (120 ECTS), taught in English, is designed for stakeholders from both academic and non-academic backgrounds, with training in interdisciplinary fields such as ecology, geography, demography, economics, security, and information technology.
The result of the learning process is the acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge that can be used for the analysis, monitoring, planning, organization and implementation of activities in different segments of social practice in the field of sustainable development, as well as for the creation and evaluation of the impact of public policies and for scientific research. The acquired knowledge enables practical application in scientific research, business, government institutions, international organizations and civil society organizations in accordance with modern scientific achievements and trends in the field of sustainable development.
Professional, academic or scientific title: Master Analyst of Sustainable Development
Conditions for admission: Applicants who have at least 180 ECTS points from their undergraduate studies can enroll on the Master’s degree program. Enrolment is based on a public selection procedure announced and conducted by the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Geography, in which the selection and enrolment of candidates is based on the results of the undergraduate studies and the results of the entrance examination. Foreign students, with the exception of those whose diploma is automatically subject to nostrification by virtue of special interstate treaties, shall submit proof of validation of the diploma for continuation of studies in accordance with the provisions of the UB.
As the course is taught in English, students must provide proof of the appropriate language level: Upper-intermediate level (B2) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) or Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English (CAE), IELTS (International English Language Testing System), or completed secondary education in English.
Admission Ranking Criteria: 25 candidates per academic year.
The selection ranking of candidates for enrollment is determined based on:
- The applicant’s cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) from their undergraduate (Bachelor’s degree) studies;
- The time-to-degree completion in their undergraduate program;
- Performance on the entrance examination.
